Breastfeeding and Neurodiversity

Two of my adult children are autistic, neither are yet parents.  I have experience of interacting with, communicating with and supporting autistic people in everyday living. This has built my understanding of communicating with those with other neurodiverse experiences.  I also recognise that every neurodiverse person is unique, with their own interests, strengths and challenges.

I am at the beginning of my journey with supporting neurodiverse people to breastfeed or feed their milk to their baby by other means.  I would love to help you, if you or your partner are neurodiverse.

I offer home visits and video calls to support breastfeeding and breast milk feeding.

I can help pregnant people with preparing to breastfeed or express, answering any questions they or their partner may have.

After the baby is born I can help with sore nipples, concerns about milk supply, weight loss or insufficient weight gain of the baby, breastfeeding positions, expressing milk, options for offering your baby your milk other than directly breastfeeding.

Once the baby is older I can help with other issues as well such as discussing going back to work, introducing solid foods and weaning from the breast.

Please let me know how you prefer to communicate

I can be contacted through WhatsApp, by text and by phone call at 07495 802346.  If you prefer to schedule a phone call as your first contact, please text me and we can arrange a time.

During your initial contact with me, please let me know if you have sensory needs, in-person communication needs, or anything else you want me to know as I support you.

Here is a good general article that looks at breastfeeding and autism:
